Welcome to Victor Junior School

Our main goal is to comprehensively help and support vulnerable children from poor families through education provided by our school in Oderai community in Soroti. Each child supported by the school has a different story and individual needs. Victor Junior nursery and primary school, aims at improving the life of deprived and vulnerable children from humble families, through education service.

Historical Background

Many socio- economic surveys in Uganda have shown that Education enhances lives and its human right, vital to personal and societal development of wellbeing. It ends generational cycles of poverty and diseases and provides the means for sustainable development. quality Education equips children with knowledge and skills they need to help them adopt healthy lifestyle. Almost two decades ago the people of Oderai community, in Soroti experienced civil strife and political upheavals which affected, able men and women negatively leaving young generation as Orphans, vulnerable children and youth. The idea to set up the private school in Oderai community in Soroti emanated from the experience of two founders, who got touched by the main barriers to access and full participation of the children in Education in the area. The two people felt a desire to start something which can be owned by the community of Oderai in order to address issues of long distance to school, poor education, school fees, scholastic materials, gender issues, and the other fact is that not yet illegal to keep a child home from school. In February 2010 Victor Junior Nursery and Primary was established with a total number of 34 children. It is Catholic based Licensed private school located in western division of Soroti town in Oderai village. Since then, the school is rendering education service to the community of Oderai and its neighborhood. The school enrollment in 2023 increased to 205 children. However, as an administration of the school, our target, three years from now is to increase our enrollment from 205 to 500 children and above.

Volunteering at Victor Junior Nursery and Primary School

The school administration is looking for volunteers. If you are a person sensitive to other person’s need, who likes children, like to help, flexible, able to work with others in all conditions, not afraid of challenges and unusual adventures, and if you are moved by social injustice, if you are like us, you think that every needy child in life should have a chance to live purposeful life and you know English in a communicative manner.
